My 1993 Plymouth Acclaim

Wouldn't trade this car for nothing! Not even the newest, trendiest of today's cars. 90's cars ftw!

Here's a little backstory about my love and passion for these cars, plus some extras about my past vehicles.


My dad had 2 of Plymouth Acclaims back in the day. Both were company cars. His first one was a grey '90 Acclaim LE V6. He had it from April '90 to April '92 when my Grandparents(my mom's parents) bought it from the company my dad worked for at the time. And that's when he got a Black cherry '92 Acclaim V6 which he had until April '94. I remember that one believe it or not(I have a very good memory and I remember the 90's). But I also remember the Grey '90 Acclaim LE because it was my grandmother's car then since 1992. She drove it until 2003 or '04(don't remember the exact year but it was around then) when she got a dark blue Late 90's Lincoln Continental. However Grandpa kept the Acclaim and used it as a spare vehicle and often drove it to the golf course(I went golfing with him sometimes when we were visiting) and we would also cruise around in that car sometimes. Lots of good memories. Grandpa gave that car on to me in 2007, a year before I got my Driver's license which I got in August 2008. I drove that car from mid August of 2008 to early October of 2009. I grew up with that car and therefore knew it my whole life, so I really enjoyed driving it and I was always cruising around town after school. Lots of fond memories.

That's why I have such a passion for these cars. Because it reminds me of my Grandfather as he gave me my first one.

But sadly after Grandma got her Lincoln Grandpa never parked it in the garage and lift it outside and as a result of it sitting next to the garage in the snow every winter it rusted away and there was nothing left of the floor. Then in october of 2008 the tranny started to go. I scrapped that car a year after that when I got a pristine 1986 Pontiac 6000 STE. I had that until September 2, 2013, 4 days later I bought a 1999 Chevy Tahoe LT.

In late 2016 I really started to miss my old Acclaim and decided to get another one, and on December 23, 2016 I bought another one in the form of a blue '90 Acclaim LX( I sold my Tahoe later that same day). It was rusted but it wasn't as bad as the first one. I was going to fix it up but back in April it blew out a brake line. I took it in to get fixed but unfortunately it tured out that all the brake lines were completely rotted out, the master cylinder was shot and it had a gas leak. It turned out to not be worth fixing so I had to scrap it(same salvage yard as my first Acclaim). About a week later Is when I got a 1997 Dodge Ram 1500 Club Cab, my first pickup truck. I tried to move on but then I realized that even with my newly acquired job I just couldn't afford the gas for my truck. I could afford the gas to go back and forth to worknin my truck but I like to go for a drive around town a lot and I just couldn't afford to do that in my truck as it got shitty milege around town. That's when I decided to look for another Acclaim, but this time I looked for one in good shape with a solid body and I lucked out!!!

And now I have this '93 Acclaim V6 that's in great shape with no major rust with a solid body. I will truly enjoy rust proofing it with POR-15 products and will eventually get it repainted. It must be preserved.
