Driving Around Collinsville, Illinois in 4k Video

Описание к видео Driving Around Collinsville, Illinois in 4k Video

Filmed on Monday, October 9 2023, I drive around Collinsville, IL to see what's going on. I didn't stick around long - I had to make to St. Louis before sunset. At the end of the video I hit the highway and drive to St. Louis, showing you the beautiful skyline.

The city is famous for housing the Cahokia Mounds State Historic Site, a National Historic Landmark and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This prehistoric urban complex, once the largest Pre-Columbian settlement north of Mexico, was developed by the Mississippian culture and is estimated to have housed thousands at its peak. Collinsville is also recognized for the Brooks Catsup Bottle Water Tower, the world's largest ketchup bottle, and prides itself as the world's horseradish capital.

Collinsville's history is deeply rooted in the ancient city of Cahokia, which had a population of 20,000-30,000 around 1200 CE. The area also has a French colonial history, with French Catholic monks cultivating agriculture on the terraces of Monks Mound during the Illinois Country era.
