Assetto Corsa: 1965 Alfa Romeo TZ2 at Greenwood

While the Giulia TZ was out winning the 1600cc class at the 1964 Nürburgring 1000 and the Sebring 12 Hours, Autodelta were busy refining and improving on the design before anyone else had a chance to catch up. The Carlo Chiti team reduced the size or weight of almost every component, lowering the center of gravity as well as a new Zagato designed fiberglass body for lower drag. The massively retuned inline 4 was now producing 170 horsepower at 7500 rpm, giving it a top speed of 160 mph. Due to the extreme cost of making a purpose built race car, only 10 were made, and during the process Alfa Romeo purchased the Autodelta firm.

The "miniature GTO" only competed for 2 seasons, winning 5 international races, before Autodelta began work on a new mid engined prototype using the same inline 4 engine.
