Guru is needed in every sphere of life. When the question is about knowing oneself or upliftment of one's soul, the need of Guru becomes absolutely necessary.
That's why everyone has praised Guru Tattva in one voice. But this is Kalikaal or the dark age where it is a very difficult task to test a true Guru.
If religious scriptures are studied, the way to test a Guru is automatically found. Guru is not the one who keeps a man entangled in illusions, keeps him engrossed in worldly comforts.
But Guru is the one who uplifts one's soul and unites oneness.

जीवन के हर क्षेत्र में गुरु की आवश्यकता होती है l जब प्रश्न अपने आप को जानने का हो, अपनी आत्मा के उत्थान का हो तो गुरु की आवश्यकता परम आवश्यक हो जाती हैl
इसलिए गुरु तत्व की सभी ने एक स्वर में प्रशंसा की है परंतु यह कलिकाल है । यहां सच्चे गुरु की परख करना अत्यंत कठिन कार्य है।
ऐसे में यदि धर्म शास्त्रों का अध्ययन किया जाए तो गुरु को परखने का मार्ग स्वतः ही मिल जाता है ।
गुरु वह नहीं जो मनुष्य को माया में उलझाए रखें, सांसारिक सुख सुविधाओं में रमाय रखें ।परंतु गुरु वही है जो हमारी आत्मा का उत्थान करें और हमें स्वयं से मिला दे।
