Brian Jones - Happy Birthday!

Brian Jones was indeed a unique individual, and as his birthday is again upon us many people’s thoughts turn to the proverbial “problem child” of the Stones. Whatever one may think of him, Brian was a very sensitive individual whose driving passion had been to create a band who would introduce new audiences to this unique and emotional form of musical expression known as the Blues.

As time went on, he came to the realization that his part in this mission was slowly being eroded, and Brian did not have the personality or the aggression necessary to survive in the harsh world of the music industry. He sadly stumbled and eventually lost what he had so cherished. But what he had accomplished despite so many odds against him-both physically and mentally-is being re-discovered by a new generation.

I want to celebrate the day of Brian’s birth by showing the happier moments of his life. I also chose a blues number for this video especially for one reason–his true love in life was the blues,. This piece showcases the one instrument-the harmonica-that held a special place in his heart. I truly hope that he would be pleased by “Porch Blues”, and I hope that you too will enjoy it as well.
