Cataract surgery: soft lens (steroid induced PSCC)

Today case is steroid induced PSCC. 16 years old boy considered to be treated by systemic steroid for immunologic disorder. Bilateral PSCC has developed and vision retarded to 0.2 OU. cataract in this case is inimitably ease. The use of trypan blue dye isn’t necessary to visualize the capsule. The most critical step of this type of lens surgery is CCC. I prefer using capsulrhexis forceps. I usually use dispersive OVD so don’t hesitate to refill the anterior chamber to complete the capsulrhexis when OVD goes out. The second most important step is complete hydrodisection. Aspiration using I/A probe is enough to aspirate the lens. Anterior capsular polishing is great idea to minimize the incidence of phimosis

Tips :
- soft lens cataract is inimitably ease.
- the use of capsulrhexis forceps is preferred at age under 20.
- anterior capsular polishing is important to prevent phimosis.
