1901 New Home Sewing Machine | Restore this 123-year-old machine with me

Описание к видео 1901 New Home Sewing Machine | Restore this 123-year-old machine with me

I've restored an #antique #sewingmachine, and it's ready to sew for the first time in many years! Take a look at this 1901 New Home #treadle sewing machine, and learn a bit about its history and how to use it. You'll also see how I cleaned more than a century of grease and grime from this machine and uncovered some gorgeous decals.

I purchased all of the cleaning and polishing products shown in this video on Amazon. I used original Gojo (the kind without pumice) to clean the decals, and I used sandpaper that ranged from 120 to 3000 grit, and 0000 steel wool for the metal parts. With both the sandpaper and the steel wool, I used ordinary sewing machine oil as a lubricant. I used a little sewing machine oil on a rag to do a final polish of the painted and decaled portions of the machine. The oil will help prevent chipped areas from rusting or rusting more in the future.

This is the second in a series all about cleaning and using some antique sewing machines from my collection, so be sure to subscribe so you don't miss a thing! There will be at least 4 more videos in this series.

My National Paveway machine is nearly identical in function to this machine. Watch that video for details about how to wind a bobbin.    • 1910 National Paveway Sewing Machine ...
