Ducks can tolerate far colder temperatures than chickens and also love standing out in the rain and snow. They create lots of moisture when they breathe, so building a predator-proof pen for them to use at night is a good idea.

This duck house and pen (built entirely by me from my own plans) was situated within our completely enclosed chicken run for added protection.
