MIDAS 2881 is a portable tester for periodic maintenance of electrical apparatus.

It measures:
Capacitance and Dissipation Factor (tan δ)
Power Factor
Partial Discharges (With Optional DDX)

Damage in the insulation material is detected rapidly and reliably. Together with the DDX 9160, simultaneous partial discharge and dissipation factor (tan δ) can be performed.

By adding the resonating inductor 5289, generators up to 1.41 uF can be tested at 15 kV and 50Hz. The embedded 15 kV PD-free power supply is optimised for onsite testing of rotating machines up to 26 kV (Un/√3).

The 5289 is a tunable 15 kV, 100 kVA reactor that increases the MIDAS power up to 100 kVA @ 15 kV (6.7 A). The user-friendly software helps the operator to set the resonating point. The MIDAS 2881 together with the 5289 and the DDX 9160 is the perfect set to perform PD and Dissipation Factor (tan δ) tests simultaneously on rotating machines.
