Nocturne Oil Painting Demo

Learn how I paint a miniature nocturne in this oil painting demonstration. The oil colors I used for this piece were: Titanium White, Burnt Umber, Ultramarine Blue, Perm. Alizarin Crimson, and Sap Green. I used a light tone color pencil to sketch my subject in so that I knew where the dark colors were going to go. You do not want to sully your light tones by getting dark paint in them. You want them clean and crisp. Edge control was really important, also, in order to maintain some realism and depth.
