Johann Bertusch reports about the linguistic situation in his native village Petrești. During his childhood everybody used to speak there just the Sathmar Swabian language variety. He also recalls memories about the Swabians who assumed a Hungarian identity and the conflicts that emerged from the confrontation of the pro-Hungarian and pro-German factions in the Swabian villages.
