If you have known a narcissist, or someone with narcissistic personality disorder, you will know that a narcissist will never apologize. You may wonder will a narcissist ever apologize? To apologize for a wrong doing requires vulnerability and the ability to experience shame without narcissistic injury. Narcissists refuse to apologize because to take blame brings up shame. They blame shift and use projection to make it about you so that that don't have to apologize. The narcissist apology is rarely about the wrong they did, and is to help them gain control again. They may even use gaslighting to apologize so that you think it was your fault and not the person with narcissism. The narcissist fake apology can be frustrating, but the narcissist fake apology may be the only apology you ever get from the narcissist.
