Webinar: Shared priorities for a just transition: Rights and the renewable energy value chain

Описание к видео Webinar: Shared priorities for a just transition: Rights and the renewable energy value chain

The consequences of the global climate crisis are intensifying, with Indigenous and marginalised communities disproportionately affected. However, it's paramount that the transition doesn't come at their expense. A fast transition must also be a fair one, grounded in respect for both environmental and human rights, while ensuring shared benefits for all stakeholders – including investors, states, businesses, frontline communities and workers.

In this webinar, we explore the concept of a just transition from a multi-stakeholder perspective. We dive into the upcoming UN Working Group on Business and Human Rights report on Just Transition, Extractive Industries and Human Rights, as well as the Business & Human Rights Resource Centre's Just Energy Transition Principles.

Speakers:
Damilola Olawuyi, Chairperson of the UN Working Group on Business and Human Rights
Joan Carling, Executive Director, Indigenous Peoples Rights International (IPRI)
Ilan Zugman, Managing Director, Latin America, 350.org
Steven Heim, Managing Director, Boston Common Asset Management

Webinar recorded 17 October 2023
