Abdul Wahab, fondly known by his disciples as Sachal Sarmast, (intoxicated man of god and truth) was born in 1739 in a village called Daraza in Khairpur. He advocated the message of divine love through his poetry, which embodied the principles of mysticism and according to him was 'divine inspiration. He wrote his poetry in seven languages, including Sindhi, Seraiki, and Persian, and earned titles from his devotees like Haft-i-Zuban Shair (the poet of seven languages) and Sartaj-us-Shuara. There are nine compilations of his Persian poetry and his Sindhi and Seraiki work are the most celebrated.

Through this mesmerizing composition, Sachal Sarmast Ji says that neither dipping in the river Ganga nor going to the holy Kaba frees oneself from his sins. These attempts are bound to go in vain if the heart is malicious. Just as a potter beats the clay, a man should also beat all his wrong desires and deeds away.

Sachal Sarmast ji says that why take the journey to Mecca and worship Kaba there when it is already in our hearts. We visit Masjid to pray but if the heart is somewhere else, planning something evil, then again all the Sijdas are meaningless. If our motives are pure, then the Masjid resides in our hearts and all the Sijdas directly reach to Allah.

Every fibre every vein of the poet is begging for his union with God, then what's the point in reading the Qalmas from the Qur'an. He is already fully devoted to his God.

The last verse depicts the intense love of the poet for the Almighty, for Allah. He is so deeply in love with Allah that there is no point in sacrificing him through a sword to confirm this. He made a holy Kaba in his heart. He is always in touch with his Khuda.

Listen to the beautiful composition in the soul-stirring voice of Sakur Khan.
