In this video, we cover the basic principles and process behind sharpening Double Hollow Ground and Beveled Knives used for Oboe and Bassoon Reed Making. LC Double Reeds was founded in 2017 by oboist Xiaodi Liu and bassoonist Conrad Cornelison. Agonizing over the many years spent using overpriced tools with many design flaws, they decided to take matters into their own hands to create a business which would provide reasonably priced, thoughtfully designed reed-making tools designed with the professional player in mind.

Their first product to be released was their CHANG昌 Double Hollow Ground knife. With careful attention given to details such as balance, structure, ease of use, and visual appearance, the knives have quickly gained popularity and is used by double reed players in many professional orchestras across the United States.
