O C E A N I A - The Making of

In late 2022, Asheville, NC songwriter and performer Anya Hinkle met famed Irish producer Kevin Moloney (U2, Sineád O’Connor). The result of their collaboration is OCEANIA, a collection of songs that uses the vast and deep Pacific Ocean as a metaphor for our collective journey through the human experience. Oceania, the great Pacific, is wide and deep, the perfect metaphor for a life's passage, with the probability of finding shore as remote as tiny islands in a vast ocean. The courage it takes to voyage through its waters is measured by the uncertainty inherent in the journey.

The songs on OCEANIA Asheville, NC-based artist Anya Hinkle' songwriting and vocals alongside Irish guitar legend John Doyle (Solas, Tim O'Brien, Joan Baez) on guitar, bouzouki, and mandola; slide guitar master Billy Cardine (Biscuit Burners) on Dobro, lap steel, and chaturangui; Daniel Kimbro (Jerry Douglas, Transatlantic Sessions) on bass; River Guerguerian (Ziggy Marley, Gipsy Kings, Lizz Wright) on percussion; Mary Lucey (Uncle Earl) on harmony vocals; and special guests Michael McGoldrick (Uilleann pipes, whistle), Mick McAuley (accordian) and Clark Rinard (organ, electric piano).
