7. SOUNDBITE: (Urdu) Syed Mustafa Kamal, former Mayor of Karachi:
"An armed group of criminals operating in the area under the blessing of the present government killed about ten of our supporters this morning when they were leaving their homes for work on their normal routine. The gang comprised about thirty to thirty-five people who killed more then ten MQM (Muttahida Qaumi Movement) supporters here in this area."

STORYLINE
Funerals for two victims of a fresh wave of shootings in Pakistan's largest city, Karachi, were held on Friday.
The father of one of the victims had to be supported by a group of men as he made his way to the funeral.
The coffins were draped in red, green and white flags for the funeral, which was attended by a huge crowd.
Much of the recent violence in Karachi follows the decision by the city's most powerful party, the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM), to quit the federal ruling coalition.
The former Mayor of Karachi, Mustafa Kamal, himself an MQM supporter, accused the authorities of allowing armed criminal groups in the area to operate "under the blessing of the present government".
The shootings earlier in the day left 11 people dead and 18 wounded, according to Pakistani authorities.
Dozens have died in the past month in killings believed to have been sparked by political feuds.
Karachi is a port city of 18 (m) million people that witnesses over a thousand violent deaths a year.
It is Pakistan's commercial heart, and the chaos there threatens the country's stability.
Authorities are investigating whether political tensions were the cause of Friday's killings, too.
