Allan Weiss' Bread & Roses Book Launch Oct 2024

Allan Weiss' Bread & Stone book launch at Another Story Bookshop, Toronto, 28 October 2024. Bread & Stone is a detailed historical novel about the Winnipeg General Strike in 1919.

Allan heard Honey Novick sing a labour song, based on a gospel song, called Speak For Me, which became the theme song of the novel. Honey opened the book launch by beautifully singing this inspiring song.

As part of his research for the novel, Allan went to Winnipeg and did the same marches as the workers with “bird-sized mosquitos”!

Allan is a knowledgeable, witty speaker and it was an enjoyable couple of hours.
