Donkey Kong Bigonia (Amiga WinUAE 50Hz cropped)

Описание к видео Donkey Kong Bigonia (Amiga WinUAE 50Hz cropped)

This is the Amiga port of the 1983 C64 port of the Nintendo arcade game Donkey Kong. Bigonia did several ports of games from the C64 to the Amiga. Something that appealed to people who had made the switch from the C64 to the Amiga but missed some of the old C64 games.

The 1983 port of Donkey Kong on the C64 was quite well done. A little difficult, compared to the arcade game, and it replicated the US level order A-D A-B-D A-B-C-D, rather than the Japan level order A-B-C-D. The Bigonia port has gone for the Japan level order instead, and has missed some of the patterns of the arcade and C64 game: the early oil-barrel on level 1, and the rate of the springs on level 3, where this version has a short gap, then a longer gap in the timing of their release. I also think the fireballs are sometimes a bit more aggressive in chasing you.

I'm playing this at a PAL 50Hz frequency, but have cropped off the flashing author messages at the bottom of the screen where they talk about their efforts to accurately port the game. (I find those messages quite distracting. Here is a recording I made of the game without cropping out the author messages:    • Donkey Kong  Bigonia  (Amiga  WinUAE ...   )
