This low, long table would make an excellent TV stand or coffee table in front of a sofa. The beautiful walnut has an aged, dark-hued finish now worn in places to leave a lovely patina. The table originates from Shanxi province, where it would have been placed on the elevated 'kang' - a brick or earth platform heated from below during the colder months. It has five small drawers for convenient storage, each featuring a central scolloped panel and a circular handle. The four feet are stylized with a square, scrolling pattern to add a nice detail to an otherwise simple design.
