Lecture about electron microscopy (EM) of extracellular vesicles (EVs) by Alain Brisson and Veronika Kralj-Iglic as part of the third massive online open course (MOOC) of the International Society for Extracellular Vesicles (ISEV). The lecture covers a general introduction of EM, followed by the basic principles of (1) transmission electron microscopy (TEM), including negative staining and cryo-TEM, and (2) scanning electron microscopy (SEM). In addition, the lecture covers how to interpret the captured images, practical information, do’s and don’ts as well as examples.
