Описание к видео Tribute to Pandit Durga Lal Ji | Nahid Siddiqui Kathak | Nahid Siddiqui Foundation

What can I say about the great Pandit Durga Lal Ji. The words fail to describe the human being and an artist he was. Love poured out of Durga Lal jis dance and the grandeur that he carried was powerful and sublime at the same time.
Durga Lal Ji was a perfect blend of being a loving guru and greatly polished kathak artist. Pandit Durga Lal (1948 - 21 January 1990) was a renowned Kathak dancer of the Jaipur Gharana. He was born in Mahendragarh, Rajasthan. Gharana. He taught Kathak at the National Institute of Kathak Dance (Kathak Kendra), New Delhi. He was a disciple of Sunder Parasadji and brother of renowned Kathak dancer Devi Lal Ji.
This particular tarana was composed by Durga Lal ji on the train to Birmingham, where we were supposed to meet just for one and a half hour before our recording for a TV programme called Here & Now hosted by Mr. Zia Mohyeddin.
I still remembering the beautiful recording of the vocalist Jawala Parsad jis and subtle tabla accomplishment of the great Ustad Latif Khan Saheb. What a joy it was to be dancing with such tender love which Durga Lal ji & myself shared.
Thanks my dear Durga lalji for giving me this honor.
