“A Bogus Storm!” BBC Sports Personality Of The Year Judge Explains Why Mary Earps Won

The BBC is facing a backlash after England goalkeeper Mary Earps was crowned Sports Personality of the Year ahead of snooker player Ronnie O’Sullivan and cricketer Stuart Broad.

The 30-year-old goalkeeper was a key part of the Lionesses side which reached the Women’s World Cup final in the summer and won FIFA’s Golden Glove award for the best goalkeeper at the tournament.

TalkTV’s Ian Collins is joined by sports journalist Rob Maul who was on the panel that created the shortlist.

Rob says the backlash is a “bogus storm”, adding: “I don’t see why she shouldn’t be on the list.”
