Jon Fox of Houthaus Design redesigned the WTVJ look just after it became an O&O in anticipation of the big affiliate switch from CBS to NBC. The very trendy deco look echoes the 1980s "Miami Vice" vibe popular at the time. This look actually debuted before the switch in 1988, lasting for around a year. It was replaced in mid 1989 by a more serious, traditional look that would endure for an even shorter time than this one.
