July 1988 WTVJ (Miami-Fort Lauderdale) Sign-Off

Sign-off and national anthem from NBC-owned CBS affiliate WTVJ in Miami-Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

WTVJ was purchased by NBC in 1987, but, in an unusual situation, ran CBS programming for over a year due to NBC's affiliation contract with WSVN not expiring until December 31, 1988. On that date, WTVJ picked up NBC from WSVN (channel 7) and CBS moved to former Fox affiliate WCIX (channel 6;) which sent the Fox affiliation to WSVN. Later, in 1995, WTVJ and WCIX swapped facilities, with WTVJ moving to channel 6 and WCIX moving to channel 4 as WFOR.
