OD&D Fantasy Combat As I Understand It

Original Dungeons and Dragons came out in 1974 and had several systems of combat, one of these systems was the Fantasy Combat System. It is not found in the Rules for OD&D, but those rules refer you back to Chainmail a wargame that the Gary Gygax had been working on for several years prior to OD&D. If you have been watching my Solo Actual Play of OD&D, I will be using this combat sytem in the near future.

In the 3rd Edition of Chainmail the 1:20 scale combat or the Mass Combat was used most of the time, but there were times that one was not in rank & file, it was when a creature beyond the mundane stepped onto the field. These fantastic creatures were near mythical in nature and had their own combat system require a greater person to fight them vs the rank and file of an army. In these times Chainmail had these creatures dominating the combat, and it continued with OD&D was suggested to be used as an optional way of doing combat.

I am doing a serious of videos like this moving forward, I have already released the 1:20 aka the Mass Combat Video, Man-to-Man, now this one and soon I will have the "Official" Alternative Combat System coming out, I hope you enjoy them as they come out.
