BULAN BINTANG ROAD TO LONDON MARATHON 2023: MAKE BAJU MELAYU GREAT AGAIN WITH EDAN SYAH

Bulan Bintang has made another history when they collaborated with the renowned marathon runner Edan Syah, who had represented Malaysia and Bulan Bintang in breaking the Guinness World Records at the TCS London Marathon event. The event took place on April 23, 2023 concurrently with the celebration of Hari Raya Aidilfitri which was celebrated worldwide.

Edan Syah finished his 42.2km run with a time record of 2 hours 49 minutes & 22 seconds which made him the Fastest Marathoner wearing Traditional Malay Dress (male) category.

Bulan Bintang’s fashion team made it possible for Edan Syah to finish the full marathon by specially designed and innovated his Baju Melayu including the songkok & samping that best suit long-distance marathon.

Below are the description of the functionality of the designs:

The Baju Melayu: Top and pants are made from jersey and mesh material, stretchy fabric that will not weigh him down and secure a flexible mobility. The team also innovated the pants by adding invisible zipper to ease Edan Syah wearing his shoes.

The Sampin: The printed sampin is made from interlock fabric with compartments around the waistline. The function of the pockets are made to keep Edan Syah’s energy gels.

The Songkok: To maintain the originality look of the songkok, we used velvet material with a panel on top of songkok by using mesh fabric with bigger eyelet size to allow plenty of air ventilation.

This special collaboration with Edan Syah not only brought achievement and recognition for Bulan Bintang’s brand as it has also showcased the beauty and uniqueness of our traditional wear to the global stage.
