Alec Baldwin hears opening statements in manslaughter trial

Alec Baldwin “violated the cardinal rules of firearm safety” on the set of the film Rust and his negligence led to the death of a cinematographer, a court in New Mexico has heard.

The actor is on trial in Santa Fe charged with involuntary manslaughter over the October 2021 shooting of Halyna Hutchins. He pleaded not guilty to the felony charge, which carries a maximum sentence of 18 months in prison.
