Alex Baldwin charges dismissed as Rust trial falls apart

Alec Baldwin broke down in tears as the involuntary manslaughter case against him unravelled in extraordinary fashion and the judge dismissed the felony charge after serious failures on behalf of the prosecution.

Judge Mary Marlowe Sommer said that she had no choice but to dismiss the case after prosecutors failed to disclose evidence that may have helped the defence.

The actor left the building and declined to speak to the waiting press before climbing into an SUV, turning his back on a case that has marred his reputation for more than two years since the death of the cinematographer Halyna Hutchins on the set of the film Rust.
