Taking photos is very risky and dangerous in Guatemala. I only had this chance with permission from Transmetro.

Taking this video was very risky so please don’t try to take videos in public especially on your own. This video was taken with the intention of showing what the bus scene is like in Guatemala City.

Transmetro is Guatemala’s BRT system. There are currently five lines, each with different services. Line 12 of Eje Sur (South Axis) runs from Plaza El Amate to Centra Sur and has four different services:

D70 Ruta Trebol Directo (Express: Stops only at Centra Sur and El Trebol Clover intersection)
D71 Ruta Amate Directo (Express: Stops only at Centra Sur, El Trebol and Plaza El Amate)
T70 Ruta Truncal (Local: Stops at every stop from Centra Sur to Plaza El Amate)
T71 Ruta Trebol-Centra Sur (Local: Runs only between Centra Sur and El Trebol)

Centra Sur is a giant building with various levels. The first level is the parking lot and the interurban bus dropoff/pickup. The interurban buses popularly known as Chicken buses (at least in the US) stop here. Transmetro provides feeder buses that travel around the neighborhood collecting people to dropoff at this level. The next couple of levels is inside the building and make up an indoor shopping mall. The last level is where Line 12 ends. It’s a giant platform with lanes on each side. One side is for dropoff and another for pickup, and each side can berth many buses at a time.
