President Kennedy Landmark Speech at San Luis Dam August 18, 1962 RESTORED

August 18, 1962
President John F. Kennedy spoke at the San Luis Complex groundbreaking ceremony in Merced County.
The joint-use facilities were designed and constructed by the Federal Bureau of Reclamation.
The California Department of Water Resources maintains and operates the complex.

To mark the anniversary, this year DWR is unveiling a newly remastered video of the speech that uses cutting edge video editing technology to give viewers a glimpse into the past and to better preserve it for the future.
