1100 Khidkiyon Ki Haveli l Churu l Rajasthan l India

1100 Khidkiyon Ki Haveli... are you surprised to hear that? But indeed there is such a haveli in Churu, Rajasthan... which has 1100 windows and the same haveli is also known as Babulal Surana Ki Haveli.

Churu - part of Rajasthan falls in the region called Shekhawati. The semi-arid but historic region is located in the northeastern part of Rajasthan, this region is also famous as 'Open Art Gallery'.

Mostly this region was under the rule of Shekhawati Rajputs.
From the 17th century to 19th century, Shekhawati kings and Marwari merchants built many forts, mausoleums, step wells and mainly havelis in this region. Covered with frescos that are not only grand but beautiful inside and out.

It is said that the businessman whose haveli is the most decorative and beautiful is the real best. According to the locals, it was as if they were in a competition, so while walking around this region, seeing these crafts and specious havelis is a sight to behold.

This haveli with 1100 windows is equally beautiful. As it was closed for some reason, I could not see the whole of it, but I could definitely see its spacious exterior, the main entrance, what looks like a veranda upon entering, the beautiful frescoes on various subjects, various types of wooden windows and doors.

Although this craft is fading with the passage of time, it still survives... The wealth of the traders of that time was strongly felt while looking at such havelis and the artist in me bowed down to all those unknown artists after seeing this wonderful creation.
