BEAUTIFUL GLIMPSE OF MAIHAR | MAA SHARDA TEMPLE | SATNA (MADHYA PRADESH)

Maihar is Famous for Sharda Mata temple which is situated on Trikuta hill. Maihar is located in Madhya Pradesh.

So there is a interesting story about this place. According to the locals of Maihar, Alha and Udal the warriors, who were on a battle with Prithvi Raj Chauhan, were very strong followers of Sharda Devi. It is said that they are the first ones to visit the goddess in this remote forest. They called the mother goddess by the name 'Sharda Mai', and henceforth she became popular as 'Mata Sharda Mai'. Alha worshiped for 12 years and got the amaratva (Immortal) with the blessings of Sharda Devi.

Behind the temple and downhill is Alha Pond. At a distance of 2 km from this pond is situated an 'akhara' (wrestling ring) where Alha and Udal used to practice kushti (wrestling). The people of Maihar believe that Alha is still alive and comes at 4 am in the morning to worship the Goddess Sharda.

Apart from this story Maihar is a very famous religious site in Madhya Pradesh. Thousands of pilgrims come very day to visit this temple.

This is one of the famous Hindu temple in India. This north indian temple is commonly known as Sharda Devi, and people living there (means localised) use to call this temple as Maihar Devi or Maa Sharda Mandir or Maihar Mata Mandir or Maihar Devi Mandir or Maihar ki Sharda Mata.

Maihar Devi Temple In Madhya Pradesh dotted with numerous holy sites dedicated to almost all the gods, goddesses and deities of Hindu religion, India is famed for providing much-looked-for respite from troubled self and rushed life of individuals. Inspired to take a pilgrimage gratifying their need to come under the refuge of God, they turn into devotees in one such place called as Maihar in Madhya Pradesh.Located in district of Satna, Maihar is a city associated with the Goddess Shakti, also known as Sharda Devi. On Trikut Hills, even 1063 steps to the hilltop to visit sculpture of Sharda Devi and Lord Narsingh do not stop pilgrims to consider the endurance and take the climb. Another mode of reaching the temple is ropeway. Developed in 2009, it facilitates the pilgrims short with vacation or restricted by physical ailments.

The temple has shrines for Lord Bala Ganapathi, Lord Muruga and Acharya Sri Sankara at right places as described above with a three time puja in accordance with the procedures followed in Sringeri main Mutt preaching the philosophy of Advaita in the foot steps of Acharya Adi Sankara. Indeed, this temple is a boon to those unable to visit Sringeri to have the darshan of Mother Sharadambika. Besides usual monthly important special pujas on such days as mentioned above, 10 day Navarathri festival is celebrated very devotionally commencing with Maha Abishek, followed by Laksharchana and Devi Mahatmiya Parayana for 4 days. On the Navami day (9th day) Chatha Chandi Yajna and Vidyaramba Pujas are conducted. Huge number of devotees brings their children for commencing their education. During the Navarathri festival days, Jaganmatha Sharadambika appears in alluring alankaras as Brahmmi, Maheswari, Gaumari, Vaishnavi, Indrani, Chamundeeswari and Gajalakshmi. Mother also comes in procession in the golden rath.

मध्यप्रदेश के सतना जिला अंतर्गत मैहर के त्रिकूट पर्वत में माता का भव्य मंदिर है। मान्यता है कि सदियों से हर दिन भोर में 2 बजे से 5 बजे के बीच मां शारदा के प्रथम दर्शन करने का सौभाग्य आज भी आल्हा और उदल को ही मिलता है। ये वही आल्हा और उदल है, जिन्होंने पृथ्वीराज चौहान के साथ युद्ध किया था। आल्हा और उदल ने ही सबसे पहले जंगलों के बीच शारदा देवी के इस मंदिर की खोज की थी। आल्हा ने ही 12 वर्षों तक तपस्या कर मां शारदा कोप्रसन्न किया था। माता ने उन्हें अमरत्व का आशीर्वाद दिया था। कहा जाता है कि आल्हा माता को माई कह कर पुकारा करते था। इसीलिए बाद में माई से मैहर नाम हो गया। मंदिर के पीछे पहाड़ों के नीचे एक तालाब है, जिसे आल्हा तालाब कहा जाता है। यही नहीं, तालाब से 2 किलोमीटर और आगे जाने पर एक अखाड़ा मिलता है, जिसके बारे में कहा जाता है कि यहां आल्हा और उदल कुश्ती लड़ा करते थे।
देशभर में आस्था का केन्द्र बने मां शारदा मंदिर की अजब कहानी है। कहते है कि पहाड़ा वाली मैहर माता का एक ऐसा रहस्य है जो आज भी वर्करार है। मान्यता है कि यहां दो वीर योद्धा आल्हा और उदल शारदा मां की आरती करने आते है पर कभी दिखाई नहीं देते है। शाम की संध्या आरती होने के बाद जब मंदिर का पट बंद करके पुजारी नीचे आ जाते हैं तब मंदिर के अंदर से घंटी की आवाज सुनाई देती है।
कई बार तो पुष्प चढ़े होने के प्रमाण भी मिले है। ये खुद दावा मंदिर के पुजारी देवी प्रसाद ही कर चुके है। आसपास के बड़े-बुजुर्ग कहते हैं कि मैहर वाली माता के भक्त आल्हा-उदल अभी भी पूजा करने आते हैं। अक्सर सुबह की आरती करने का सौभाग्य उन्हीं दो भाईयों को मिलता है। इसीलिए मां शारदा के साथ ही आल्हा-उदल की भक्ति पूरे जगत में चर्चित है।
