Gisele MacKenzie: Songs from Your Hit Parade #5

Описание к видео Gisele MacKenzie: Songs from Your Hit Parade #5

Part 5 of my series on Gisele MacKenzie's performances from the wonderful live 1950's NBC TV series, Your Hit Parade, features Gisele in a wide ranging set of roles as she presents the top songs during the 1955 season. Gisele starts off with the Frank Sinatra hit, Love and Marriage, which is set in a backwoods wedding, and is the funniest of all the presentations I can recall from Your Hit Parade and includes a Gober character that was used later on The Andy Griffith Show. As a complete contrast, the versatile Gisele next offers the sacred hit, He, in a very solemn setting; next up is a Hit Parade Extra, which finds Gisele dancing her way through the lively Six Lessons from Madame LaZonga; Gisele often recalled that on Hit Parade she had to sing lying down and standing on her head, here she sings sideways for awhile. Gisele turns into a cooking school teacher as she once again was assigned to sing Love and Marriage. Rock music was seeping into the top 7 songs, and Gisele tackled that, too, with her next selection, The Platters' hit, Only You (and You Alone). Finally, Gisele is stargazing with her beau in a park, as she sings Teach Me Tonight.
