The Great Kenosha P-50 Fiasco, 30 Minute Alert, Paddock Lake & Trevor, WI

So despite the Coronavirus, me, Chris, Holly, and Tony all ventured out to the P-50 in Paddock Lake for this month's Kenosha test. Exactly 2 years ago to the day, this P-50 was reverse wired and VERY quiet, but after Fulton did maintenance on it, it is now correctly wired and sounds just as loud as any ordinary P-50. After the pitiful 30 second monthly test, we all noticed that in the distance there was a P-50 that ignored the cancel tones and continued on for a while. Once we realized that after 5 minutes of it going off, we all unanimously decided that it was the P-50 in Trevor and we should attempt to get to it in time before it wound down. Well, lady luck was on our side today and it ended up going off for an entire 30 minutes! In the video you can hear the cool ambiance I captured in Paddock Lake as well as the awesome doppler effect as I drove toward it. Thank you all for watching and I hope you enjoy the video!

To clarify a few points:

1. The P-50 will not be replaced and its motor is fine. P-50s have a continuous duty cycle motor, in which it has a fan that cools down the motor during operation, so theoretically P-50s can run infinitely without any problems.

2. The most probable cause of the malfunction is a possible welded relay in the controls which resulted in constant power being supplied to the P-50.

3. Kenosha county repeatedly tried deactivating it, as well as sending out siren specific DTMF deactivation codes, but because of the probably welded relay it couldn't cancel.

4. The Trevor fire department is a volunteer fire department hence why there was no firefighter on standby to shut it off as soon as possible.

5. Kenosha will not replace the P-50 rather the controls/relay as stated before, the P-50 is fine and will still run fine.

6. Kenosha County sheriff released a statement during the malfunction via Facebook in regards to it, so they already know what has happened.
