About This Video:
Have you noticed a weird yellow or red spot on your eye? A common question I get in the clinic is "what is this yellow spot on my eye?" This spot is usually on the white part of the eye, and it's called a pinguecula. A common term used is "surfer's eye". In this video Dr. Guymon, Dr. EyeGuy explains what a pinguecula is, how it can turn into a pinguecula or a pterygium, and what the pinguecula treatment is. It's very common to have this yellow spot in your eye. Sometimes this spot can also get irritated and become a red spot. This is a growth called a pinguecula. When it's irritated it can become a pingueculitis, and it will look like a yellow spot on the eye with redness. If the growth grows over the cornea, then it is called a pterygium. A pinguecula is usually on the white of the eye. Dr. EyeGuy explains why you have it, and what you can do about it.
