PLOT (via Wiki)
In Mamma Mia, bride-to-be Sophie (Amanda Seyfried) secretly invites three men to her wedding on the Greek island of Kalokairi, believing one is her father: Sam (Pierce Brosnan), Bill (Stellan Skarsgård), or Harry (Colin Firth). She hopes to identify her father so he can give her away. The men arrive and Sophie hides them in her mother's goat house, keeping their presence a secret. Donna (Meryl Streep), Sophie's mother, discovers them and is shocked but doesn't know which is Sophie's father. Sophie bonds with each man, learning Bill might be her father, but each man later claims the role.
Tensions rise as Donna and her old lovers reconnect, and Sophie confesses her plan to her fiancé, Sky (Dominic Cooper), who is upset. Donna and Sophie have a heart-to-heart, and Donna offers to cancel the wedding, but Sophie insists on moving forward. At the wedding, Sam reveals his past feelings for Donna. The three men agree to share paternal duties, and Sophie and Sky decide to postpone their wedding to travel. Sam proposes to Donna, and they marry on the spot.
In Mamma Mia: Here We Go Again, young Donna Sheridan (Lily James) graduates from Oxford in 1979 and dreams of the Greek island Kalokairi. Fed up with her absentee mother, Ruby (Cher), Donna travels to Kalokairi to find her destiny. In Paris, Donna meets Harry Bright (Hugh Skinner), and they spend the night together before she leaves for Greece. Missing her boat, Bill Anderson (Josh Dylan) gives her a lift on his sailboat, and they help a stranded fisherman named Alexio. In Greece, Donna meets Sam Carmichael (Jeremy Irvine), and they have a brief romance before she discovers he is engaged. Heartbroken, she ends things with Sam and later finds out she is pregnant but doesn't know who the father is. Bill's great-aunt Sofia offers Donna her farmhouse, where Donna gives birth to Sophie.
In the present, Sophie prepares for the grand reopening of the Hotel Bella Donna in honor of her late mother. Harry and Bill can't attend, and Sophie feels estranged from Sky. A storm disrupts the preparations, but Sam reassures Sophie that she can never disappoint her mother. Sophie learns about Donna's past romances and her struggles. Bill, Harry, and Sky leave their ventures to support Sophie, arriving on the island with Alexio's help.
Rosie (Julie Walters) and Tanya (Christine Baranski) comfort Sophie about her issues with Sky. The celebration is interrupted by Ruby, who wants to build a relationship with Sophie. Sophie performs in honor of Donna, and Ruby reunites with her long-lost lover, Fernando (Andy García). Nine months later, Sophie gives birth to a baby boy, Donny. At the christening, Donna's ghost proudly watches, and they share a final moment before Donna passes on. The end credits show all characters celebrating at the Hotel Bella Donna.
