Jump Rope Balancing Act

Описание к видео Jump Rope Balancing Act

It's hot, humid, and the middle of the summer in New York City so we decided to stay inside for this tutorial and work on a skill that's traditionally not too intense: balance. We just happened to have a balance beam lying around so it seemed appropriate to use it.

In this video, Shana shows you a couple of ways to challenge your balance, proprioception, and coordination by taking a few skips on a 6 foot long slightly raised balance beam. She's intentionally not wearing sneakers in order to get more neural input from her feet. Could you increase the challenge and intensity by trying double unders and crossovers? Absolutely! But start small and see how you do before increasing the difficulty level.

If you'd rather be outdoors, you could try jumping on a line that's demarcated on an asphalt surface although having a raised surface really ups the ante. We do not recommend jumping on an actual balance beam (the kind that gymnasts use) unless you're feeling very confident or don't mind injuring yourself in a fall.
