Shimizu, Japan

Shimizu is a favorite port of call for many cruises in Japan. It is supposed to have a magnificent view towards Mt Fuji but the mountain is not always cooperative as was the case when we docked for the day. Deprived of its major attraction , we took the opportunity to visit and lunch at the Shimizu Fish Market and strolled the Shopping Arcade at the Train Station. We had a pleasant surprise on returning to the cruise terminal to find Taiko Drum performances by local clubs was in full swing. Finally as we made our sail away from port the clouds that had blanketed Mt Fuji finally lifted to give us a peek at the sometimes elusive icon
