Google Pixel 8 Pro - MASSIVE CAMERA UPGRADES!

Google Pixel 8 and Google Pixel 8 Pro are set to launch on October 4, and a new leak has revealed the official promo video and the camera features of these phones. This year, Google is adding more features in the "Pro" model, which wasn't the case in the previous Pixel devices.

The Google Pixel 8 series is launching on October 4, and the company has already given us a sneak peek at the design. Today, however, a massive leak revealed the Google Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro camera features. Kamila Wojciechowska shared the official promo video of the Pixel 8 series with 91M0biles, along with the camera specifications and features of both phones.

Google Pixel 8 & Pixel 8 Pro

Regarding the specifications, the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro have the same primary rear camera. It is a 50MP 1/1.31-inch sensor with f/1.68 aperture lens and 1.2-micron pixel size. While the camera sensor is the same as last year, the aperture is wider this time (f/1.9 vs. f/1.68).

The ultrawide cameras are different on both phones. The vanilla Pixel 8 gets a 12MP sensor with an f/2.2 aperture lens, 1.25-micron pixel size, and 125.8-degree FOV. The Pixel 8 Pro has a 48MP sensor with an f/1.95 aperture lens, 0.8-micron pixel size, Quad Pixel technology, and a 125.5-degree FOV. It is worth mentioning that last year, both the Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro had a 12MP sensor with f/2.2 aperture lens. The Pixel 7’s ultrawide camera offered 114-degree FOV, compared to Pixel 7 Pro’s 126-degree.

Finally, the Google Pixel 8 Pro has a third camera on the rear with a periscope lens. This one has a 48MP sensor with an f/2.8 aperture lens and 5x optical zoom. Compared to the Pixel 7 Pro, there is a wider aperture this year (f/3.5 vs. f/2.8).

Both phones have the same camera for selfies with a 10.5MP sensor, an f/2.2 aperture lens, and a 1.22-micron pixel size. This sounds like the same camera as last year, but one thing worth noting is that the Google Pixel 8 Pro has autofocus for the selfie camera, which the Pixel 7 Pro did not have. The vanilla Pixel 8’s selfie camera has a fixed focus.

Both phones can shoot up to 4K 60fps videos from the front and the rear cameras. There is OIS for the primary camera on both phones (Pixel 8 Pro’s periscope telephoto camera has OIS too).

And that’s all about the camera hardware.

Speaking of the common software features, both the Google Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro have Ultra HDR, Magic Editor, Best Take, Macro Focus, Magic Eraser, Photo Unblur, Motion Mode, Real Tone, Face Unblur, Panorama, Manual White Balancing, Locked Folder, Night Sight, Top Shot, Astrophotography, Portrait Mode, Portrait Light, Super Res Zoom, Motion AutoFocus, Frequent Faces, Dual Exposure Controls, and Live HDR+.

The Google Pixel 8 Pro’s extra camera features include Pro controls and High-resolution images.

There are a ton of video-centric features, too. Both phones have Audio Magic Eraser, Macro Focus Video, 10-bit HDR video, Cinematic Blur, Cinematic Pan, up to 240fps slow-motion, 4K Timelapse with Stabilization, Astrophotography Timelapse, Fused Video Stabilization, 4K Cinematic Pan Video Stabilization, 4K Locked Video Stabilization, 1080p Active Video Stabilization, and Digital Zoom up to 7x on Pixel 8 and up to 20x on Pixel 8 Pro.

Google Pixel 8 Pro gets some extra video features, including Video Boost and Night Sight Video.
