Chinese Puff Pastry With Red Bean Paste. Chinese puff pastry with red bean paste is a very popular Chinese dessert. Chinese puff pastry is different from the normal pastry that you get from the supermarkets. This pastry is made up of a water dough and an oil dough. The oil dough is wrapped inside the water dough to create a layered crispy skin in desserts. Generally shortening, lard or oil is used but I prefer to use butter. Aunty Mary shows how to make this easy recipe of Chinese puff pastry with red bean paste at home.This red bean puff pastry is also one type of Chinese mooncake and is also a dim sum item.

Ingredients

Red bean paste
Beaten egg to brush pastry
Black sesame seeds to sprinkle (or white sesame seeds)

Water Dough

3 C flour
120g butter (or 1/2 piece)
3 Tbsp sugar
3/4 C water

Oil Dough

2 C flour
120g butter (or 1/2 piece)
3 Tbsp vegetable oil

Note :
1. Recipe can make 32 small pieces of red bean puff pastry which is my preferred size. You can make other sizes that you prefer.
