Little Boxes

Yes, we both are Pete Seeger fans (hence the banjo 😉 ). In this video we are singing a song he loved very much and was written by Malvina Reynolds, an American singer-songwriter. If I believe every story Mr. Seeger told, which I have an tendency to do, Malvina Reynolds had the routine to write a song a day, usually after breakfast. This, for me is of course mind-boggling, I have troubles writing three a year 😅. This song “Little Boxes” is fantastic in its simplicity (which actually makes it quite complex in my opinion), criticism, optimism and of course melody.
Other great songs written by her are “God Bless the Grass”, “The Day the Freeway Froze” and “Mommy’s Girl”.
I hope these lovely folksongs never fade away.

Ja, we zijn allebei Pete Seeger-fans (mede-daardoor de banjo 😉 ). In deze video zingen we een nummer waar hij erg van hield en is geschreven door Malvina Reynolds, een Amerikaanse singer-songwriter. Als ik elk verhaal geloof dat Mr. Seeger vertelde, wat ik geneigd ben te doen, had Malvina Reynolds de routine om elke dag een nummer te schrijven, meestal na het ontbijt. Dit is voor mij natuurlijk verbijsterend, Ik heb moeite om er 3 per jaar te schrijven 😅. Dit nummer "Little Boxes" is fantastisch in zijn eenvoud (wat het eigenlijk best complex maakt naar mijn mening), kritiek, optimisme en natuurlijk melodie.
Andere geweldige nummers die door haar zijn geschreven zijn "God Bless the Grass", "The Day the Freeway Froze" en "Mommy's Girl".
Ik hoop dat deze mooie volksliederen nooit vervagen.
