The grape poisoning myth (do they really kill dogs?)

Описание к видео The grape poisoning myth (do they really kill dogs?)

🚨 Is your dog in danger from grapes and raisins? Find out the truth as I reveal the true danger risk of this common fruit for our furry friends. 🐶🍇

In the video, I dive into the uncertainty surrounding the toxicity of grapes and raisins for dogs. While some dogs can eat them without any issues, others can suffer from irreversible kidney damage.

The culprit behind this danger? Tartaric acid and potassium bitartrate found in grapes, which can vary greatly in concentration depending on the grape variety, growing conditions, and ripeness.

This means that even a small amount of grapes can be lethal for some dogs. Shockingly, an 18-pound dog died after consuming only 4 to 5 grapes, while the average toxic dose for a 22-pound dog is 37 grapes or 23 raisins. However, there have been cases of dogs experiencing toxicity from eating much less, making it crucial to understand the risks.

Signs of kidney damage to watch out for include lethargy, inappetence, increased drinking and urination, vomiting, diarrhea, and abdominal pain.

So, when should you be worried if your dog has ingested grapes or raisins? My general advice is to monitor an otherwise healthy dog if they have consumed less than the lowest toxic dose and watch for any signs of kidney damage. However, if your dog has eaten more than this amount, it's crucial to seek immediate veterinary advice and potentially induce vomiting.

The safety of our furry companions is paramount, especially for dogs with preexisting health issues or older dogs. What are your thoughts and experiences with grapes and dogs? Have you ever encountered this danger? Share your stories in the comments below!
