A scenario based of the Battle of Cape Santa Maria on october 5th 1804. It was a naval engagement that took place off the southern Portuguese coast, in which a British squadron under the command of Commodore Graham Moore attacked and defeated a Spanish squadron commanded by Brigadier Don José de Bustamante y Guerra. The Spanish were carrying treasure back to spain.

We are using our house rules that are based on “Black seas” rules by Warlord games. The scale is 1/700

We first had a playthrough starting at half pistol shot range as in the historical encounter. However this ended up lasting all of 10 minutes, as the Spanish fleet was quickly wiped out. So we instead ran a what if scenario, where the Spanish side were more aware of the British fleets intentions and there would be more manoeuvring. The aim of the Spanish fleet was to make it to the other side of the map and onwards towards spain. The British aim was to capture the Spanish ships by striking their flags or by boarding.
