Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen made some very interesting comments earlier today, stating that we could be in for another recession if another disaster relief stimulus package focused on the debt ceiling isn't approved soon.

She explained: “It would be catastrophic to not pay the government’s bills. I fully expect [default] would cause a recession as well.”

Yellen also said: “I do regard Oct. 18 as a deadline. It would be catastrophic to not pay the government’s bills, for us to be in a position where we lacked the resources to pay the government’s bills.”

President Biden said yesterday that Congress should raise the debt limit this week and avoid the potential for economic turmoil.

I hope that our representatives in Washington can get this important stimulus package approved and signed into law soon, as we’ve already got so many issues that we’re dealing with and don’t need another recession on top of that.

Meanwhile, leading Democrats are looking to pass a bipartisan infrastructure stimulus bill and broader investments in the social safety net and climate policy by the end of October.

Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer explained: “At the end of the day, we will pass legislation that will dramatically improve the lives of the American people. I believe we are going to do just that in the month of October.”

Democrats are negotiating a compromise between centrists and progressives on a stimulus plan that would invest in child care, paid leave, health care, education and the fight against climate change, as well as a possible fourth stimulus check for eligible Americans.

President Biden stated recently: “I believe I can get this done. I believe, when the American people are aware of what's in it, we can get it done.”

These infrastructure stimulus initiatives are so important and will positively impact millions of Americans, and I hope that our lawmakers can agree on a bipartisan stimulus infrastructure bill by their newly appointed Halloween deadline.

Finally, today is looking like it could be payday for millions of citizens living in the great state of California, where a fresh batch of Golden State stimulus checks are set to hit the streets for $600 in disaster relief funds.

The first batch of mail checks is being sent out today, October 5th, with these $600 stimulus checks going out to California residents via the mail.

The California Franchise Tax Board explained: “Golden State Stimulus payments would be released on Tuesday. This batch will reach about 2 million people.”

They also found: “Payments for this round will be sent as both direct deposits and, for the first time since the payments began going out, paper checks.”

Governor Gavin Newsom said: “The state is taking on the inequities laid bare by the pandemic, expanding our support for Californians facing the greatest hardship.”

Hopefully all of my viewers in California can begin receiving these important stimulus checks as soon as today, and check to see if your state is offering similar stimulus measures in your neck of the woods.
