A central nervous system stimulant.
It may be combined with guaifenesin for asthma and used as antitussive and expectorant. But attention should be paid because they can cause nephrolithiasis in cases of abuse.
It belongs to alpha/beta adrenergic agonists.

(Indications)
• intraoperative hypotension (hypotension during anesthesia)
• breathing problems (as a bronchodilator)
• nasal congestion (as a decongestant)
• myasthenia gravis
• narcolepsy
• dysmenorrhea
• urinary incontinence

(Comparison)
Norepinephrine is used to treat life-threatening hypotension that can occur with certain medical conditions or surgical procedures.

It may interact with other drugs or substances.

• monoamine oxidase inhibitors: E.g. isocarboxazid, phenelzine.
