"China Girl" by David Bowie off of the "Let's Dance" album which came out in 1983 and featured Carmine Rojas on bass and a virtually unknown, Stevie Ray Vaughan on guitar. The song was actually cowritten with Iggy Pop and first appeared on Iggy's solo album, "The Idiot", which came out in 1977. You learn something new every day.

I've written before about my friend from the lumber company, Ed Solan. He was with Kiss in the very beginning and did their early live sound, recorded demos, and took a shitload of photographs. In fact, any early photo of the band was, most likely, taken by him. He also owned a recording studio in the Bronx. All sorts of people recorded there, including Nile Rogers. Ed told me that when Nile was producing Bowie's "Let's Dance" album, that would come to his studio after the sessions were over at night to record some of his own demos. He said that Nile would bring rough mixes on cassette tape for him to listen to. Lynn and I saw Nile Rogers open for Earth, Wind and Fire a few years ago and he did a couple of songs off the "Let's Dance" album. I still keep in touch with Ed and Lynn and I have gone out a few times for dinner at Daryl's House with him and his wife, Rory. Two very nice people, they are.

I recorded 6 videos last week and this was one of my favorites. I usually have around 50 videos in my folder and some of them are quite old at this point, but it's always my most recent videos that I'm most excited about.

So, we were supposed to be at the Kansas/Lynyrd Skynyrd show tonight, but one of the Skynyrd boys got the COVID and they canceled.

Came dangerously close to buying a Fodera last week. It didn't happen, but I did go and talk to my guy, Joe Kruse (MBJ Guitars), today about building something special for me.

I'm playing the Spector Pulse that's been fitted with a MightyMite HAZ Clone preamp and EMG Alnico p/u's through a SansAmp Para-Driver Ver. 2.
