Описание к видео Out Takes / Cuts From Le Mans Special Reel 4 (1963)

Cuts (rushes, out takes) for "Le Mans Special "- they may relate to Colour Pictorial item called "Twenty-Four Hours at Le Mans" or a documentary called "Twenty-Four Hours to History" - see other records. Pathe seem to have shot enough footage to make both the documentary and the Pictorial item.

Filmed 15 and 16 June 1963.

Various shots of the race. Some shots of spectators including a woman with a cine camera. C/U of car crashed into a sand bank. Driver gets out of the car. Various shots of the race. Men in suits stand around chatting and smoking. C/Us of the racetrack clock. It reads 4 o'clock. More speeding cars. Victorious team drives close to the crowd in celebration. Good shots of the crowd. Pit stop. Two drivers hold large bunches of gladioli (this points to these being cuts for the CP item). Some night footage of the race. High angle shot of the start of the race. Cars speed off from a stationary position. C/U of unidentified driver. Various shots of the race. A car is dug out of a sand bank. Driver tries to jack the car up. Puts branches under the wheels to stop them slipping in the sand. Spectators applaud as he drives off. Cars seen zooming under the enormous Dunlop tyre archway.

Some of the footage appears to be too fast - possibly filmed this way to give impression of high speed.
