Описание к видео Out Takes / Cuts From Le Mans Special Reel 1 (1963)

Cuts (rushes, out takes) for "Le Mans Special" - they may relate to Colour Pictorial item called "Twenty-Four Hours at Le Mans" or a documentary called "Twenty-Four Hours to History" - see other records. Pathe seem to have shot enough footage to make both the documentary and the Pictorial item.

Filmed 15 and 16 June 1963.

Various shots of cars speeding around a track during the Le Mans car race. The chequered flag is held up. No 26 Ferrari 250GTO LMB co-driven by Masten Gregory and David Piper reverses after crashing into a sand bank. Number 15, the Jaguar E-Type lightweight co-driven by Briggs S Cunningham and Bob Grossman, passes the camera with the front crumpled after a collision. Spectators watch the race. Man uses shovel to dig his car out of a sand bank. Various shots of cars zooming past the camera. C/Us of Ludovico Scarfiotti in a red neckerchief. Various cars are seen coming in for pit stops. Petrol is put into one of the cars. Driver takes off again.

Night shots of the race - can't see much except headlights.

Spectators on the stands. More shots of the cars.

Some of the footage appears to be too fast - possibly filmed this way to give impression of high speed.
