4K | The Qantas Promise - Safe Arrival & Burnt Brioche Roll on A330 Business Class SIN to Melbourne

In this trip report, join us as we fly Qantas Business Class (QF36) aboard the Airbus A330-200 from Singapore (SIN) to Melbourne (MEL). Boarding the A330, we settle into the spacious Thompson Aero Vantage Business Class seat. While the seat offers excellent legroom (Even better in bulkhead) and converts into a fully flat bed, it lacks privacy compared to newer designs. I believe the new designs has more of an extended privacy wing on the side. Another thing to note is the high foot traffic and noisy galley when sitting in bulk head. Something's gotta give I guess! Then to the amenities kit, though environmentally friendly, falls short in terms of luxury. The bag needs a serious redesign (but I believe this is already a new one), the contents are so tiny it's good to be used in a miniature bathroom. Just not a fan of the kit overall 🙅🏻‍♂️

Dinner onboard is a two-course affair, featuring grilled fish on a bed of chickpeas and side of broccolini. For dessert, a rich chocolate mousse. Breakfast is a full on rock hard brioche egg & bacon roll. It was just as much as a disappointment as an embarrassment to the much loved 'almost-national' dish. Well, Qantas is not the airline to go to for it's culinary offerings or anything to do with the luxurious wow factor. Most of the time you should be thankful you're even fed. I must say though, I am seeing slight improvements in the past 12 months so at least they're working on it.
Now, the IFE is also not something you'll be impressed about so we'll leave it at that. The compact lavatory is dated and in my standards, pretty gross.

Enough of me tearing Qantas apart. For the price I paid and compare it to the other Middle Eastern carriers I recently travelled on, I do expect more but I should appreciate that everything Aussie is overpriced and at least they look like they're trying.

Overall, I endorse it as a reliable and consistently moderate Qantas experience with the promise of a safe arrival.
